Churchill’s 20 Years Old Tawny

Deep amber on the edge with a dark pink to mahogany centre. Much darker than I might expect for a 20-year-old. The nose is gentle. Some spirit. A little distant spiciness: nutmeg and allspice. In the mouth, there is some initial complexity which is hard to unpick with spice and perhaps dried fruit. This is followed by some oranges and a little sugar. The aftertaste is long and attractive: some fruit re-appears; more oranges; a good warming sensation and caramel.
